Auto clutch is installed as well as skid plate. Just a few remaining parts in transit!
Beer tasting night. Lots of magnum (1.5L) bottles
Truck inspection today. Final one for a while since state inspections are no longer required in New Hampshire after 1/1/2026. It should go fine but I’m worried front brake pads need attention which I’ll do myself.
FRIDAY!
Test ride complete. But I had to order another $350 in parts (sigh) this project will end one day.
So close to done!
Here’s RAM usage with LLama 3.3 70b loaded. Still not hitting swap and a little bit of ceiling left.
Here’s OpenAI’s GPT-OSS-20B’s RAM usage at load. Not bad and barely noticeable on my M1 Max with 64GB of RAM in LM Studio.
Enjoying my last 24 hours playing with LM Studio. I am hoping to cancel my $20 a month to OpenAI for ChatGPT Premium by running an LLM locally and also being a bit more secure. We’ll see. OpenAI’s GPT-oss-20b uses 12GB of RAM. Let’s try Llama 3.3 70b :P
Lightroom, Final Cut and Photoshop are finally showing signs of slowing. I haven’t upgraded to MacOS26 but these apps are getting sluggish with wait beach balls. I’ll probably do a full OS reinstall to freshen things up but I really hope we get an M5 MacBook Pro this fall. I’m …
When buying low-volume stuff, it’s probably best to research where the parts are sourced from. Italian manufacturer and nor-cal is where their distro center is so everything takes 6 days from order to arrival. Suspension took 12 days + 11 for rebuild due to shipping each way.
I’m hoping this 2 month saga is coming to an end as my new dirt bike suspension arrives today and I can finally get this thing off the stand and take it outside to wash and wax. It’s been sitting in my basement on a stand since June.
I’m probably getting old but unless I buy a device with the 2026 Apple operating system releases, I’m going to be a 26.1 updater. I just don’t have the patience to deal with all of these changes in their unrefined state.
Sunday.
Pretty good.
Almost the weekend!
There really is no such thing as a cheap dirt bike or car. Like $4,000 dirt bike..cool but it has needed about $4000 in parts to get going. Still needs a new frame. New, it’s a $12,000 bike before modifications so I’m still ahead but I’ve replaced SO MANY PARTS.
I’m pretty sure that I just ordered the FINAL parts for the dirt bike build. This has costed more than I was hoping. Crap, I said FINAL but what I mean is “trail worthy” parts. I still need to replace the frame this Winter but this will get me out in the dirt.
My wife brought me a donut from Maine.
In 2024, I published 25 blog posts. So far in 2026, I’ve published 27. I’d like to double last year’s number and it’s nice that my volume has increased.
Published 2 blog posts this week, one about Adobe Project Indigo and another about AppleCare One adamchandler.me/blog/2025… adamchandler.me/blog/2025…
The web is broken and will keep getting more broken but I’m okay with using the web in its purest broken form and having a dedicated space for LLM conversations. Bringing AI into the browser is going to be a step back for me.
Heather’s MQB Tiguan is finally out of warranty so I put a Stage 1 tune on it tonight. WOW. $650 well spent. +56HP and +79 ft/lbs of torque on a motor that put out 184/221 from the factory or essentially 30% more horsepower and 35% more torque. You can REALLY feel it.
I’m hoping the airport parking garage camera caught whoever did this but either way, this is the third time my truck has been damaged in a parking spot in three years and I’m awaiting my estimate from the body shop. I always park at the back of the lot, but I keep getting it
