Late-May flight to Nevis booked! First real vacation in a while.

I put together an AppleCare+ 3-Year blog post for MacBook Pro on how to get coverage. Essentially, call AppleCare, be put on hold for 35 minutes and you can buy it: adamchandler.me/blog/2026…
SUCCESS! Attached a 3-year AppleCare+ Plan to my MacBook Pro. It required 35 minutes on the phone with AppleCare team to purchase. 3 reps so far had issues finding it but in the end $11 a month versus $14.99 a month ($539 over 3 years). WOOT.
The house is looking AMAZING:
I pressed a bit more and I think I might be able to attach the 3-year plan. Apple is going to call me tomorrow and the rep on chat cited a $399 price. Annual is $149 so maybe a 3-year plan does exist? More tomorrow.
Here’s Apple’s matrix of plan prices published for all products.
Sharing the AppleCare Support Team’s message. I have an M5 MBP but I assume this is ‘normal’ now that 3-year Macintosh plans are indeed dead and the 2 year costs more than 3-year.
I’ve covered this on my blog but Apple will no longer let you buy more than 1-year of AppleCare+ for Mac via their site or settings. If you chat with them, you can buy 2 years, “Upon checking with my resources, I will be able to help you with purchasing 2 years of annual plan for …
Pretty stark difference to what I’d see previosuly with a lot of compressed ram, full time efficiency cores pegged at 100% and even some swap memory during regular daytime work on my M1 Max w/ 64GB.
NOICE. I received it at 3PM, MIgration assistant was done by 5PM (1TB total), I was teaching my PMP class by 6PM and just finished at 10:35 PM. I can say CPU/RAM load are so insanely low compared to what I had before. It’s beautiful. 50GBs of RAM, 18% CPU load concurrently
My custom license plate came in for my new green car

This is just ridiculous. Takes 15 seconds to find my icloud password?
Isn’t MacOS Passwords just an encrypted database? Should I delete the local keychain and re-sync from iCloud? This has been getting worse for the last few months.
Am I using MacOS Passwords in Tahoe incorrectly? The app takes minutes to load and when it’s open, Safari slows to a crawl. SECD using 100% of efficiency cores on the M1. Deleting passwords takes 10 minutes to delete 100. I have 2602 passwords in there.
Also, I think this is the first Apple product I’ve ever purchased that shipped to me from Vietnam.
FYI for folks with a 3/18 delivery date of their MacBook Pro due to (root cause) electing for a nano-texture display, your order probably changed to 3/13. Just 2 days after delivery of the first batch of machines. Apple usually under promises and over delivers.
From today until 4/5, it’s going to be a total blur. Working of course, teaching night classes this week and next, BMW board meeting in Alabama next weekend, Ultar Music Festival in Miami the weekend after and then back home for a few days and flying to Asheville on 4/5 to pickup my car.

Also, my checking account bank and 2 credit cards are making me enter a Captcha. I WANT TO PAY YOU MONEY.
Credit Card companies keep making it harder and harder to just pay my bill. I think I’m going to revert back to calling and paying my bill over the phone. Barclays, Citi and Amex are making me enter all of my PII and reset passwords today. I feel like this happens every month.
My Mac versus the one I have coming next week (used ChattyG and uploaded PDFs from the M1 Max I have against the M5 Max benchmarks that just hit.
Car update of the day, service is putting the software update on it to unlock 104 additional wheel horsepower and 116 lb/ft of torque. Requires new spark plugs but dealership wanted $350 just to install the required plugs so I’ll DIY that in the airport parking lot :P
