I will say, the logic changes for folks that keep their devices longer. BestBuy is capped at 2 years then switches to Apple’s monthly price. If you keep iPads, iPhones, watches for 4 years, this become more compelling but you need a LOT of devices. So at least a 4-person household.

AppleCare One Family = $600 a year. BestBuy Total = $200 a year The first covers every device in your family up to 6 people activated within the last 4 years. Total is every device purchased from BestBuy for 2 years after purchase. New AppleCare is compelling but still too expensive.

Champagne tonight. Purchased in 2013 in Reims

I’ve started adding 8K 60FPS 260 megabit per second video to my editing workflow and am regretting only getting the 4 terabyte MacBook Pro. I think I have to go back to 4K. 2 hours of video w/ proxy files.

Happy to eat my fist on this one but an iPhone foldable phone with a price that exceeds $1,999 starting price is DOA. It’s going to perform just like the iPhone Air in sales. Too many compromises and far in excess of what people can afford. Apple has to forgo some margin to sell these in …

Having hernia surgery on Thursday.

Found a spot.

Need to find a place to sleep. Into the woods I go.

It’s wonderful to be able to do things in the garage.

Every passing day, it seems like buying a loaded M5 Max MacBook Pro was a smart decision. OLED Delays, Ultra Delays, no M6 Max supposedly?

It’s the one day a year that I get to aggressively unsubscribe from companies that have found my email in the past 12 months and are deciding today to wish me a happy birthday. (so many doctor offices)

Quiet lately (sorry). Birthday in 2 days. Turning 40. House is coming along nicely and I was able to get some truck projects done this weekend (all the fluids!). 4-day work week.

VERY excited to see TomTom as an MCP in Claude! Will assist in road trip planning which I do more than I care to admit

Well, it’s not a hernia. Supposedly I have two torn labrum tendons in my pelvis. How this happened? I have no idea.

MRI this morning.

New tires & battery on Heather’s bike:

Friday.

On my 40th birthday, I get to sit down with a surgeon for a consult on how to get rid of a hernia. On my freaking birthday. Happy birthday.

San Diego.

Unsurprisingly, Apple Upgrade is a bad deal. You’re going to pay 80% of the cost over 2 or 3 years and you don’t get to keep the device. I figured 50% would be good but 80% is a lot to not own. I wouldn’t lease a car if I paid 80% of sticker over 3 years and then turned it in. …

This is not an “update”. This is an advertisement.

The final steps are being done this week.

Lighting up the garage. More lights are coming. Need to see everything.

Big Monday at the house.
