Three days until Miami
Lender stuff looks good. Solid home-buying-power ceiling. Good call with my builder on the rebuild option we’re keeping as the top priority Upcoming call with agent on a few homes we are interested in as backup options.
I really appreciated @photomatt@mastodon.social’s recent blog post - ma.tt/2025/03/a… I’ve struggled for years to market myself or define what I do and for the last 3 employers, I’ve done exactly what Matt does as the leader of his company. I don’t own a company but …
How my wife spent her weekend…we make quite a match.
Getting ducks in a row.
Very typical for last week of March to just dump more snow on us and I can’t assume that April will be any better
It’s good to be back home. This might be a very busy week..well it was and may be more busy.
Day 4 in Burlington Vermont. Last day of board meetings. 8-6PM daily. Great discussions.
Last night in Vermont before I go back home to…a town on the other side of the VT border in NH.
In Burlington Vermont for the next 3 nights. BMW Motorcycle Owners of America board meeting & strategic planning session. I usually have to ride or fly many miles to these things. Nice that this one is local.
Work all day, Burlington tonight for the BMW Board Meeting / strategic planning session until Sunday night. Next week is focused on getting heather’s motorcycle back to riding shape after 2.5 years in storage. Oil, Brake fluid, air filter, chain rust, coolant flush and a bath.
Who knows what might happen next but I have a 2nd round with the project management academy for an instructor role. This would be nights and weekends but excited to see what next steps are. Will update next week if they want to go further.
Great (quick) ride today. Snapshot from the GoPro video.
as ugly as they are, I think every Level 5 ADAS system in a consumer setting must be equipped with LiDAR to ensure the safest experience for occupants and every person around them.
With no insider-knowledge, I think this decision was inspired by Tesla’s intention to save $500-$1500 in materials per unit but enabled by overconfident engineers who philosophically believe that everything can be solved with software. But you need data from reality to inform the software.
Computer vision is just a camera sensor with on-device processing and reasoning. If you take photos you know cameras don’t do well in low-light, with obstructions and get blocked by snow, ice, rain and mud. There’s a whole generation of Teslas that are worse at ADAS because of this …
There’s a video by Mark Rober who has shown the failings of Tesla ADAS. When I worked in the industry, literally everyone who builds these systems was really scratching their head when Tesla removed LiDAR and Radar systems and decided to rely exclusively on Computer Vision / Machine Learning.
New Opportunities
Navigating a few new opportunities at the moment. I just wish these would hurry up because once Summer starts, it’ll be more difficult to start new. By 3/31, I’ll hear if I’ve made it through the election committee for a candidacy on the Board of Directors for PMI Last year 87 …
I think this will be first motorcycle ride of the year today. High of 55 and two days of rain means no salt on the road.
My Reddit is full of small niche communities and I disable videos, GIFs, Emotes and run compact view. There are design choices we can make that make social networks less sticky. I also subscribe to reddits in my RSS feed so I never have to visit and doom-scroll.
Sunday plans, Swim lessons with Matilda, 45 minutes on the rowing machine, MotoGP Argentina, house cleaning & Laundry, get the bicycle and motorcycles outside and under covers. Also editing some videos. Now, blueberry pancakes and Bear in the Big Blue House.
Did my first 5K today. Started running a week ago starting with one mile on the treadmill. Time was 29:35. I had two goals, finish and do it under 30 minutes
Great Quote from Steve Jobs, “when I think of of the most valuable things in my life, and I think of my family” www.youtube.com/watch 9:05 I think that’s a good one to leave on Friday and start my weekend with family.
President Trump doesn’t care about much but he cares deeply what the banks, markets, capitalists, multi-billionaires think and they’re not happy at the moment. I don’t see him holding some of these policies much longer.
