Also, my checking account bank and 2 credit cards are making me enter a Captcha. I WANT TO PAY YOU MONEY.
Credit Card companies keep making it harder and harder to just pay my bill. I think I’m going to revert back to calling and paying my bill over the phone. Barclays, Citi and Amex are making me enter all of my PII and reset passwords today. I feel like this happens every month.
My Mac versus the one I have coming next week (used ChattyG and uploaded PDFs from the M1 Max I have against the M5 Max benchmarks that just hit.
Car update of the day, service is putting the software update on it to unlock 104 additional wheel horsepower and 116 lb/ft of torque. Requires new spark plugs but dealership wanted $350 just to install the required plugs so I’ll DIY that in the airport parking lot :P
16-inch MacBook Pro in Space Black with M5 Max chip With the following configuration: 18-core CPU, 40-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine 128GB unified memory 4TB SSD storage SMOKIN next to my M1 Max.
I take that back. It appears March 18th is the earliest delivery estimate the moment you choose Nano-Texture Display in your CTO screen on Apple.com. All other options are available 3/11 still.
I never even saw March 11th as an estimated shipping date on my MacBook Pro order. It was 3/18 as the earliest as soon as I picked M5 Max SoC.
Went by the house today and the entry way framing is looking fantastic! Looks like we’re ready for windows and maybe rough in plumbing / electrical? Weather is looking great for the week.
Auto Insurance - New Hampshire versus North Carolina
One of the biggest upsets when I moved to Charlotte North Carolina was just how expensive insurance was. Depressingly high. Two cars were $2,200 a year for middle of the road coverage. Back in NH, it dropped to $1600 a year and now that I’m renewing for 2026, it dropped again to around $1060 per …
Someone went to the Audi Dealership where my car is and took a photo for me. Looks like the Window Tint and Paint Protection Film are done. Looking very snazzy.
Well maybe I should have priced it for higher? My MacBook Pro sold in under 2 hours on Swappa. It was priced in the top 20% of listings with the only major difference being AppleCare active through 12/2026 which must have pushed someone to buy it for a premium. One listing was priced $100 more.
Looking forward to official M5 Max Benchmarks but 2X on everything except single core which will be about 1.8X faster. This is just an LLM’s guesses based on M5 Geekbench scores extrapolated over Apple’s SoC claims in today’s press releases:

I know it’s “fake-spring” in New Hampshire but after literally 2 months of a deep-freeze with daily averages being near-0 degrees since New Years Day, I’m so thankful to see a high in the 60s on the calendar. Trying to remodel a house with daily highs at 5 degrees has been really hard.
Flight booked to Asheville.

Now that I have three bottles of Blanton’s Gold, I decided to open one. It’s significantly smoother and slightly sweeter than the normal stuff.
