Included are some of my grandmother’s porcelain dolls for Matilda. She had many dozens of these in her home.
My grandmother passed away in 2024 and my father mailed me a box of her things. Finally opened it up now that we’ve moved in and there are hundreds of well preserved photos. Time to scan them all in.
I’ve dug up a Thunderbolt cable. Heather has no idea that we’re replacing her M1 with an M5 14" MBP. …she’s also getting new motorcycle tires.
Got a blog post in tonight. Every day, so much to do around the house but I’m chipping away at it.
Hmm. I just noticed there are “Reddit Achievements” and I’ve used Reddit every day for 723 days. Cool?
I also worked for Om for a few years as a writer back during the GigaOm days. He treated the writers with respect. that was a rare thing.
Om Malik was a kind hearted man who blogged nearly every day. His words and photography so were personal and I’m going to miss his art in my RSS reader. I met him nearly 2 decades ago and his demeanor and self was so warm and friendly. A bright light in the often times dark technology space.
I always said to myself I wish I bought Apple Stock. In 2026, I wish I had stock piled more Apple hardware. Truly an appreciating asset outpacing the stock price.
I’m seriously blown away. 16" MacBook Pro + Nano-texture M5 Max chip with 18-core CPU, 40-core GPU 128GB unified memory 4TB SSD storage 40% increase over what I paid 2 months ago.
The M5 Max MacBook Pro I bought in April for $5,674.00 is now $8,149 on Apple.com. A $2475 increase in just 2 months. (Updated since I forgot to elect the 4TB SSD as well)
So if there’s an Apple product on Amazon with the old pricing, grab it now before they notice.
For the last 6 or so weeks, I’ve been considering buying my spouse a new laptop. Her M1 Pro is fine but it’s showing age. I just bought a 14" MacBook Pro for $2583.59 on BestBuy with 2 years included AppleCare+. That same machine is now $3199 on Apple.com.
I’m not really a Star Trek fan but 11 years ago I needed a huge coffee mug and this was cheap. I got so many questions from people about star trek. AFter 11 years, I’m pleased to finally be replacing it.
All of my Belgian glassware has been in storage for about five years. Finally have it all unpacked and put away some of these I forgot I had.
Moved in.
Moving home this weekend.
Gumby.
Paid off my truck today. One year early.
I reply to every YouTube comment.
“More reliable search indexing” This might get me to try Mail.app again. I’ve been on Outlook for 2 years because of how buggy Mail has gotten and I use search a LOT.
M5 Max is AMAZING. I pumped 1.6 terabytes of 4K videos into Macwhisper Pro which I’ve been running for years and the neural engine transcribed all 150 videos in 5 hours.
Also, even Apple’s fastest Pro chips are going to struggle with AI Features on images that are in the 50-60 megapixel range, right? Just guessing. we’ll have to see.
It looks good in a demo but still the majority of my photos in iCloud Photo Library were shot with my Canon R5 or Leica Q2 (RAW in Lightroom exported JPEG to Photos) I’m guessing a lot of these new AI features rely on the LiDar depth mapping feature to work?
Holy crap…callsheet on outro video! @caseyliss@mastodon.social YUGE.
Me in 2024 when I purchased an M4 iPad Pro with 1TB of storage “The 16GB of RAM should make the iPad a dream with Apple Inteligence as it launches over the next 9 months and future proof iPad updates as more features that require a lot of ram launch.” Every device I own can run OS …
