Adam Chandler's Micro Blog

Opened Apple News for the first time in a while. It’s disappointing that it’s still littered with the lowest quality advertisements and nearly every story still uses click bait titles. Apple Editorial should re-write titles or add an AI summary so I know what I’m about to click on.

As usual, a collection of photos is on Flickr - www.flickr.com/photos/ad…

Great weekend. Finished the dirt bike and went for a ride, went camping in VT (low of 42 on friday night) and went to a beer festival yesterday. No complaints.

WILD WEEKEND

With the realization that HyperTension is coming to Series 9 and inevitably black Friday discounts coming, we cancelled Heather’s S9 pre-order. She has AppleCare through December so we’ll see what discounts arrive later. So she’s getting a new iPhone and I’m getting AirPods. …

Pretty easy purchase for Heather.

As I’ve said before, I subscribe to the white house RSS feed and aside from blatant propaganda and lack of fact checking, it’s the typos that are the most egregious.

Introducing a new series of posts (written/video) as we embark on phase 2 of our house remodeling - adamchandler.me/blog/2025…

Since I’m buying AirPods for me, Watch and iPhone for heather through Best Buy, I’ll be saving about $360 in AppleCare monthly payments for the next 2 years then I can switch to monthly or she goes to AppleCare One if she wants to keep those covered. I’ll do iPhone 18 PM + Ultra 4 …

Apple Purchased this week: AirPods Pro 3 ($194 from Bestbuy after $35 trade in + $20 off and includes AppleCare) Apple Watch Series 11, Black/GPS for Heather ($308 from BestBuy after $121 trade in of Heather’s S9 45mm) iPhone 17 Pro Max Blue w/ 512GB for Heather ($299 after Verizon trade-in …

What I will say about our 2026 Apple software releases, it’s really refreshing to see how much has changed with Macintosh. Not everything will feel like a step forward but I love seeing Apple take risks and pushing forward in their most mature 42-year old platform.

First time I noticed it since the iPhone 14(?) The Apple Watch Ultra 3 satellite connectivity says “free for first 2 years” so I assume Apple is finally planning on charging something for this service they’re spending hundreds of millions of dollars on.

“Spatial video recording at 1080p at 30 fps” Really bummed that 17 Pro can’t do 4K. That’s one thing that would have put me up for an upgrade. Without that, I’m hoping the 18 can do 4K.

I think we have finalized the remodeling quote for the house. It’s been a LONG time coming over 2 years of work. I think our final cost will be $430,000 all in. Will be a blog post & video but time to go talk to my lender.

iPhone Eve. Here’s my iPhone 16 Pro Max after 12 months defaulting to 80% charge. Never gone empty and still at 100%

www.theverge.com/tech/7735… Nice dose of reality. I sometimes forget that 99% of buyers of Apple devices are just replacing their vintage one.

View from my bedroom this morning. It’s starting to change and I think we’ll be very orange and red by end of week. and yes, I don’t like the power lines in the way but it is what it is.

Lows of 40 degrees all week. Trees are changing. It’s happening. I think peak folliage is next week. Heather thinks we’re 2 weeks out.

The dirt bike I’ve been restoring since June had its first 500 yard test ride today. I need to adjust the braking, chain sag and fill it up with fuel oh and order a new kill switch button but it works! so exciting.

Great weekend.

Had a great weekend with 200+ people at the camp. Matilda rode her battery powered BMW motorcycle around and it just feels like being home.

Every year, we go to Goshen Vermont and Camp Thorpe for an annual BMW motorcycle rally. This is the 9th year I’ve gone but this time Matilda and Heather joined me. In 2021, we used the venue for our wedding. It’s a place that has become quite a fixture in our lives.

Back in Boston…teaching a class for 2 days. Heather is lakeside with the baby having a great day but I am really enjoying teaching so it’s still time well spent.

Just had my first South Shore Boston Pizza (in Quincy). It’s really good. I love Domino’s pan pizza and this like an upgraded version of that. A bit crunchier crust and better ingredients of course.

What this means is in a month or two, when we hit 6.2TB, I won’t have to upgrade to the 12TB plan, I can just go from Apple One Family to Premiere and have 8TB. That’s how it’s supposed to work but when I had 6TB + Premiere before, it showed only 6TB of storage so I downgraded.
