@mjtsai - RE: Displays, you quoted $1599 MSRP for Studio Display. I guess it's correct to report Apple's prices but aside from BTO/CTO Macs, I haven't paid MSRP on an Apple Device in a while. Channel Partners have gotten brazen about prices that undercut Apple's the point that I buy …

I've worked really hard the past 10 years to get to “maxing out my 401K" like incrementally doing more and more. 2024 is the 2nd year I've maxed it out. I'll be putting in the full $23,000 this year at age 38. Work match is decent so it's a combined $30,600 in 2024 contributed …

The sound of my new set is obviously leaps and bounds better than Vision Pro + AirPods Max, it’s a communal activity with the 3 of us all enjoying the television and can do double duty connected to Switch or XBox. @mgs ‘s notion that https://spyglass.org/pro-vision-apple/ Vision Pro should be …

Should be a blog post but with the purchase of this new television, I keep thinking about what if I had put that money into purchasing a Vision Pro (again)? I buy most things through Best Buy Outlet and that has a 2 year warranty for me + 1 year for using the Amex card and I got the Sony A95L 65” …

@oliverames You are a trendsetter!

Enjoying the new setup. I did have to order new HDMI cables since Xbox requires a new cable for 4K 120 and Dolby Vision.

Exciting. Finally replaced my ten year old television. My smart remote and soundbar shot the bed. The tv was fine but didn’t have Dolby vision or HDR and had only a handful of backlight zones so it was pretty bad in a dark room. Replaced it with a Samsung Q 11.1.4 sound bar system with Atmos, a …

Direct sunlight. Nano texture continues to blow me away. I want it on every product.

Here's the North American view of my flight history.

Looking forward to adding Dubai to my flight history.

Dubai, Amsterdam and Vermont

@photomatt let me know if you need to backfill strategy/ops roles. I’m rooting for you. We had a great chat 15 years ago at Chaat Cafe and at a word camp. Keep fighting for open source.

It's quiet today.

Quite possibly worst Apple experience ever over the weekend. Just going to make it a blog post but I feel like Retail really needs to stop trying to be a luxury store and just do the job of selling things, educating customers and servicing devices. It's a store, not an experience.

Not bad, just my garage is flooded and everything in there is elevated so could be way worse.

DPReview.com without ad blockers has some serious issues. This is the web-view in Reader.app on MacOS. I'm trying to read a camera review and it kept getting slower and slower and more jittery.

FRIDAY!

Passed my exam. Next up PMI-PBA then PMI-PMO-CC.

Last hour of studying before my exam. I’ve taken a lot of these in the last 12 months but i still get nerves every time.

@chartier ..but my data comes from 8 years ago so maybe that’s changed?

@chartier Yup! Apple Stores will exchange just the band. I don’t know about price adjustments but I have exchanged a band that didn’t fit me for anther color / size they had in stock.

@gruber You probably experienced this first-hand with Vesper but it’s also a very tough experience for Marques for his career so far to be criticisms of technology products and to now be on the other side of the fence. It’s humbling to put something out there and experience that feedback loop on …

Two excellent blog posts published within minutes of each other today. I love deeper dives and insights from authors like this @BasicAppleGuy / @louie https://lmnt.me/blog/reality-distortion.html https://basicappleguy.com/basicappleblog/on-wallpapers

Someone on Reddit asked me to post a photo of Ultra 2 in Black + Tan Alpine Loop w/ black hardware. I’m a fan. 2024 Alpine is stretchier than 2022 Alpine. And I think Tan is better than last year’s Olive color.
