During my sand crash yesterday, I suffered a small foot injury. My left ankle which had a bone-spur removed last year has not fully regained range of motion and the tendons on the top are still quite tight. Well, the boots held up well but still allowed enough bend to stretch 3 tendons. I went to a podiatrist today and had Ultrasound + X-Ray performed. Nothing is broken but I’ve been told to keep resting another 24 hours (2 days) and , if possible, stay on pavement for the next couple of days. The doctor also gave me some cocktail of cortisone + ozone therapy which will numb it for 3 hours, “hurt like hell” for 12 and then heals much faster. With the additional realization that Central & Northern #WABDR has fires (and I’m sensitive to smoke) I’m looking at alternative routes possibly up the Oregon coast en route to Canada. I figured fires would keep me from doing some of the route, now it’s also a sprained ankle so while I’m disappointed, I can’t push myself and cause further injury on literally day 3 of my trip.
