@mjtsai I have a 1 terabyte home director and Hyperspace said I’d save 1.4 gigabytes of data. Good to know but not worth $10 personally. Everyone’s situation will be different.

@mlm361 It’s like I’m waiting for Springsteen tickets but people keep cutting me off!

@apoorplayer For their price, I’ve heard really good things. This is our first year with one.

@harrymccracken Wow, look at those bezels.

@apoorplayer library.sportingnews.com/2021-08/m… Yep! I did not subscribe in Charlotte NC because ATL, CIN, DC were all blacked out. Back in NH and it’s just Sox which is fine as a national league primarily viewer. ATL’s is huge!

@JimRain Sounds fantastic. We’ve had a few of these around here and it seems they just don’t last very long. I see a line around the block for Taco Bell but our cheap taco place (that costs less than Taco Bell) with fresh cooked chicken and chopped veggies just closed after 2 years.

@apoorplayer Love it! You’re living the life.

@combatdavey If I’m there too long, someone will inevitably start verbally abusing staff for many dumb reasons and that’s when you remember how tough these jobs are. If my burger doesn’t have pickles, I just let it slide.

@tinyroofnail Maybe we’re getting old but I have yet to install any food apps except Uber Eats. I know there are deals in there but I just can’t bring myself to do it. I’ll order at the kiosks in the fast food joints though since most places are understaffed.

@apoorplayer Looks like a new blog idea “Sitting alone at restaurants” I exclusively drink and eat meals in the spaces so when I do have fast-food, it’s just me, the staff and a bunch of Uber Eats folks running in to grab their bags. It kind of feels like eating in a kitchen.

@apoorplayer hahaha. that makes my post a lot funnier. POS can go both ways.

@apoorplayer I just looked it up and it appears I’ve made that comparison 4 times on my blog over the last 10 years that Starbucks is McDonalds for caffeine but I guess larger topic of fast food then. These places are big and they’re all empty. McDonalds is the same. All of the seats are empty.

@liana Definitely a click-bait title. It’s functionally identical in every way to a $1100 phone that came out 6 months ago minus an ultra-wide and telephoto lens.

@mlm361 I’d also much rather give money to Micro.blog than a big hosting company or to wordpress.com directly. I honestly don’t believe that wordpress actually cares, as a company about blogging anymore. Pure blogging as a love of words is not something they’re interested in.

@apoorplayer ..and to your point, there’s a great deal of us who think we need to be on Facebook but in reality (no matter the age) it just isn’t true. I talk to my family on the telephone more than I ever did when I was”saw them” on Facebook all day.

@apoorplayer I truly believed a decade ago that social media giants would begin offering a more respectful product where users could create communities open or private without ads, invasive tracking or overreaching privacy violations but it’s only gotten worse.

@liana I’m so glad we’re in touch again and it’s nice to have you here. I haven’t quite found my community in this space yet but I think that’ll come with time. The reasons for not using Facebook or X are higher than ever and I hope more people come to the indie web.

@mlm361 Hah, see that’s the beauty of this service. I have no idea who’s following me! I appreciate it. she has not been sick yet (16 months old) but daycare is correcting that and yet she bounced back so quickly.

@dgreene196 I like that suggestion. I wouldn’t pay for a bundle of AppleTV Sports+ (MLS + MLB) but they could offer that as well. I wish they had gotten Sunday Ticket just to stick it to Google.

@manton Hah, I actually really love and respect the product decision of not having follow-counts. It creates an unhealthy relationship with influence and breeds narcissism. I just love blogging and I love the mystery.

@manton It’s a good test but I would argue that not entirely representative since I imagine most of your ‘followers’ are on micro.blog. I imported 50 or so followers from Mastodon and I believe all of my replies are still from that community and no one on Micro.blog knows I exist :P

@kolin We hit terminus.

@gruber correct and I don’t know what happened. My iCloud settings no longer show a Mac.com or itools.com address. I absolutely had one. I have the password to the Mac.com saved but the account is locked. Looks like I lost it around MobileMe transition.

@gruber Same. I was an iTools customer and had a Mac.com address.

@mjtsai Don left before I joined but he had a legacy for sure. I’d love to see an oral history made up of people who were in this space from 1995-2015. It’s offline now but Mike Dobson’s blog has a lot of history! web.archive.org/web/20200…
