I have come to a realization that I didn’t have to finish high school. My wife and mom are very alarmed by this statement but honestly, when I interviewed at Apple, they never asked for my high school transcript. When I was a tech blogger no one required it. Startups didn’t. None of my employers …
Me and the busted ankle cheering on the gators
Retirement basically. I’m on a Florida beach with my coffee and a knee scooter.
Dixieland delight + elevated ankle. Driving down to florida…well being driven down to Florida.
Surgery went well. Time to rest.
If my wife leaves me, I’m buying this: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/231214a7-d255-4c1c-8ee2-62c5a2856b96?aff=share_other
For work, I made an out of office surgery recovery PowerPoint...as is tradition:
On a positive note, I'm down to 253 pounds from 267. I need to really watch calories while I'm laid up for a few weeks on the couch. But I'm always excited about the opportunity to watch LOTR and Star Trek.
Well, final day in the office for a week. It's because this ankle impingement surgery takes literally 90 seconds to complete but then i can't walk for 2 months. Bodies are weird.
@kolin those pumps are SOOOO fast! and I always get DEF at the pump. That way I don't over buy or spill any.
Unfortunately, I had spent the last 12 hours re-downloading 500 gigabytes of Apple Music to my iPhone only to have it all deleted as soon as the Apple One Plan was cancelled at 3PM. Not a huge deal, it was just a lot of tapping around last night.
Apple weirdness continues but I think in a good way. 2 of the iCloud Drive purchases have been refunded. I was also kicked out of Apple Music again today and noticed my Apple One Premier plan was abruptly cancelled (11 days early) allowing me to sign back up with the cheaper Family plan. Meaning …
@Alexbrooks thanks Alex!! November 10th. Lots to do before then.
iCloud+ update, I bought 6 terabytes (again) and downgraded my Apple One Premier to Family (again) and it appears everything is working. Wife's iCloud+ is showing as me sharing it with her and I'm now painstakingly downloading 500GB of music from Apple Music that was deleted when Premiere …
@Alexbrooks Keep up, man!
Despite everything I went through with Apple yesterday, I wake up to this.
Trying to save $10 with Apple iCloud+ Storage cost me 7 hours of time: https://adamchandler.me/blog/2023/09/18/tech-icloud-6-12-terabyte-plans-apple-one-premier-issues/
Blog post coming but at the moment, I'm back on Apple One Premiere with a 12 terabyte plan and told to just hang tight until October 18th when that plan renews before I call back. That's the resolution.
Apple One Hot Tip! If you have a family and you drop from Apple One Family/Premiere to Individual, you're going to have a really tough time when you realize your mistake and try to go back to one of those plans. The issue will be worse if you just added more iCloud data right before doing this …
I spent 4 hours with Apple on the phone today troubleshooting Apple One & iCloud+ storage. Still not fixed but at least they have stopped telling me "that option will delete all of your data if you want us to do that” ….so progress?
@mjtsai Maybe this shouldn't be published on your blog but Apple & Google NOT including vehicle restrictions is a product decision. The data is publicly accessible and easy to source and rarely changes. Both companies have chosen to offer a simple consumer/auto product w/o the legal …
@mjtsai You can see the screenshots for truck features here - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tomtom-go-navigation/id884963367 I still LOVE their UI relative to any free product (Apple/Google Maps & Waze).$29.99 is worth it.
@mjtsai I was pleased to see that TomTom's consumer app has been re-branded as Car + Truck and supports entering truck data. This was done just a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, they chose to not offer this in their base subcription. TomTom's car navigation remains $29.99 a year but if …
FINALLY! I have been doing monthly deletes of videos from iCloud Photos to keep under 2 terabytes for over a year.
Ready for my ankle surgery.
